Inspire To Do 2016 took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in partnership with Obra Social Dona Meca, a local organization supporting children and orphans with disabilities. Our week combined OT caregiver training with a Paralympic summer camp experience that brought sport, visibility, and participation to the children. Team USA Wheelchair Basketball and Team USA Goalball athletes joined us at Obra Social Dona Meca for a full day of adaptive sports and play, transforming the courtyard into a Paralympic sports festival. The children attended the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games and spent the week cheering international teams across multiple events, seeing athletes who shared their identities compete on a world stage. The combination of training, community, and direct exposure to elite Paralympic sport echoed the impact of our inaugural China program and once again expanded participation, confidence, and self belief in real time.
Inspire To Do 2012 took place in Gwalior, India in partnership with Snehalaya, a local orphanage supporting children with disabilities. Our week combined caregiver training in OT and speech language strategies with shared life skills and cultural exchange, cooking together, exploring the community, and opening space for communication, confidence, and participation. As the World Cup unfolded overseas, we partnered again with FIFA to bring the tournament’s energy to the orphanage, soccer games and cheers echoing across the field. FIFA volunteers ran drills, played games, and shared stories from the pitch, while the children responded with smiles, laughter, and an engagement that lit up the fields. The exchange went both ways, with volunteers expressing how inspired they felt by the children's joy, focus, and persistence. It was a week of new experiences, mutual inspiration, and horizons opening wider.
Inspire To Do began in 2008 at the Beijing Paralympics in partnership with Half the Sky’s orphanage program. We spent the week training caregivers, supporting community outings, and creating a summer camp experience that brought the children to Paralympic events to meet athletes who shared their identities. Together we tried wheelchair blind tennis with Team Nigeria, shot hoops with USA Wheelchair Basketball, and cheered courtside for seated volleyball with Team Netherlands. We watched in awe across ping pong, swimming, and more events as the stadiums erupted around us. Athletes spoke with our campers, traded smiles, and shared stories about strength, identity, and all the miles in between. Each day the children were guided to journal about their experiences — some sharing that they had never seen others like themselves or realized these lives were possible. Watching their confidence, imagination, and future horizons unfold was the intended impact come to life.ort description here
Inspire To Do was held in Cusco, Peru in July 2010! We worked with an amazing orphanage in the Sacred Valley of Cusco called Casa De Milagros (www.chandlersky.org). They are a group of former street children who have suffered a history of abuse and abandonment. In the spirit of the World Cup that year, and with the help of the FIFA organization, the children experienced an inspiring event with the Peruvian Soccer team, Cienciano. We also worked on the inclusion of some community children with disabilities to participate in the event. There were so many stories of inspiration from this experience!

BORP, Project Insight and INSPIRE TO DO proudly present the first ever San Francisco POWER SOCCER CLINIC
Power soccer was brought to San Francisco for the first time for our children in Power Wheelchairs to experience! Power Soccer is an indoor team sport played by people who use power wheelchairs. It provided a fun, competitive, and accessible opportunity to not only play soccer but the rare chance to be a part of a team with others just like themselves, working together toward a common goal! Our players included people with quadriplegia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries and other disabilities.

It's time to Celebrate! We'd love to share the experience with you all at this special event. For $45 we are including a delicious pre-fixed Japanese dinner, a classical guitar performance by accomplished guitarist, Michael Bautista*, the premiere of our Inspire To Do Paralympic Summer Camp 2008 video short, as well as the unveiling of our future plans. A small portion of these tax deductible event proceeds will benefit the future projects of Inspire To Do.
Thank you for all your support and we look forward to a great celebration!
*Michaels' performances have captivated audiences since he was a teenager. He has performed the "Concierto de Aranjuez" for the Ambassador of Spain, given a solo performance for Senator John Kerry, and in 2005 was honored to perform as a soloist in Carnegie Hall. In 2006, Michael was one of the top 5 guitarists in the Christopher Parkening International Guitar Competition, the world's preeminent classical guitar competition.

Thanks to your support, we are thrilled to share that our Summer 2008 Paralympic Inspirations program was a resounding success! Our 23 special needs orphans from China Care Foundation's Group Education Foster Homes in the Beijing area were the best! The Paralympic athletes were amazing, kind and generous. The camp curriculum included practicing independence in their community and processing their daily experiences in their journals. All involved, both adults and children were touched by this opportunity of a lifetime to see their world peers, people with disabilities, inspire them with their achievements and successes. Their eyes were opened to what is truly possible for them.
